The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced changes to the fee structure for updating Aadhaar card details. These updates include demographic, biometric, and document-related information, and the revised charges are set to remain effective until September 30, 2028. This change reflects the increasing operational costs and aims to streamline Aadhaar services for residents across India.

New Fee Structure for Aadhaar Updates

Under the new rules, residents will face higher fees for most types of updates, although certain updates for children remain free to encourage timely submissions. The updated charges apply to services both at enrolment centres and through the official myAadhaar portal. Understanding the new fee structure is essential for anyone planning to update their Aadhaar information in the coming years.

Demographic updates, which include changes to name, address, date of birth, mobile number, or email, will now cost ₹75 if processed individually. If these changes are combined with biometric updates, there is no additional fee. Previously, such demographic changes were charged at ₹50. Biometric updates, including fingerprints, iris scans, and photographs, now carry a fee of ₹125, which is set to increase to ₹150 from October 2028.

Document updates, such as proof of identity or address, are free when done through the myAadhaar portal until June 14, 2026. At enrolment centres, the charges for these updates have risen from ₹50 to ₹75. Aadhaar printouts, whether generated via eKYC or other official tools, will cost ₹40 initially, increasing to ₹50 in the next phase.

Free Biometric Updates for Children

UIDAI has provided concessions for children to ensure compliance with biometric updates. Children between ages 5–7 and 15–17 are eligible for their first mandatory biometric update free of charge. Children aged 7–15 can avail biometric updates free of fees until September 30, 2026, whereas adults must pay the regular charges.

Home Enrolment Charges

For residents unable to visit enrolment centres, home enrolment services are available at a cost of ₹700 inclusive of GST. If multiple individuals from the same address use this service, the fee for each additional person is ₹350. UIDAI has also shared details for the next phase of fee revisions effective from October 1, 2028, until September 30, 2031, with demographic and document updates at ₹90, biometric updates at ₹150, and Aadhaar printouts at ₹50.
